EDUCATION

Must be 18 years of age by first day of the CCA Program.

Student applicants can be 17 years of age, however, must reach the age of 18 by the first scheduled day of the CCA Program

PRIOR EDUCATION
-
Grade 12 certificate or equivalent GED or CAEC equivalent to grade 12 High School Graduate with an IPP/IEP7 identified, must:

Demonstrate minimum literacy and numeracy skills through the CCA Program Administrator approved testing tool

Mature Learner must:
-
Be a minimum of 19 years of age

Demonstrate minimum literacy and numeracy skills using the NCC testing tool, Wonderlic, with an overall score of 12
-
COMPUTER LITERACY
-
Students are required to have basic computer skills in Microsoft Office applications to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, as well as web browsing and internet search knowledge
TRANSPORTATION
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND / VULNERABLE SECTOR CHECK

Clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check Issued through a Canadian Police Information Check (CPIC) issued within 6 months of start date.

Note: The presence of a criminal record does not automatically disqualifyan applicant from the CCA Program. Admission consideration for non-violent convictions will be determined on a case-by-case basis using the CRC/VSC Policy.

Newcomers with less than 6 months in Canada require a Police Clearance Check 10. (e.g. Federal Background Check used by immigration)

Applicants who are admitted prior to turning 18 years must submit criminal record and vulnerable sector check prior to first day of practicum-clinical placement.
English Level Proficiency

Applicants whose first language is not the language in which the program is delivered (English/French) will need to provide English level proficiency using one of the following tools:.

Duolingo: 95

CELBAN: Level 7

CELPIP: Level 7
-
IELTS (General Testing): Band Score 6
-
IELTS (Academic Testing): Band Score 5.5

ISANS English Language Testing: Level 7

Students are required to have a valid driver’s license and access to vehicles for the duration of their CCA Program and practicum placements
PARTICIPATION & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS (*LEARNERS MUST)

Maintain attendance of 90% of all theoretical, simulations, and lab-based program requirements.

Maintain attendance of 100% of practicum placements.
-
Maintain access to transportation acceptable for practicum placements and attendance in all theory, labs, simulations and integrative skills.

Perform basic computer literacy skills (basic word processing, check/ create and send email, basic web browsing skills).
-
Access to computer/laptop for completion of CCA Program assignments and related course components and for online course delivery if/when required.

Perform job requirements (physical and other).

Obtain an overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of 70% for program.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
International candidates will be eligible under the public policy allowing some work permit holders to study without a study permit.
WHO IS ELIGEABLE?
International students may be eligible to study without a study permit while working, providing they meet certain conditions. To qualify, students must be authorized to work in Canada under the following condition:
Possess a valid open work permit that was applied for on or before June 7, 2023.

Please note: Applications for a work permit submitted after June 7,2023 are not eligible.
HOW LONG CAN AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS STUDY?
The length of time an international student may study without a study permit depends on when they applied for their open work permit or work permit extension. If you are an international student who applied for a valid open work permit on or before June 7, 2023 and currently hold a valid open work permit,
you may study without a study permit until the earliest of the following:​

The expiry date of your open work permit

The expiration date of this public policy : June 27, 2026

An earlier date if revoked

This public policy came into effect on June 27, 2023, and will expire on June 27, 2026. This public policy may be revoked at any time without prior notice.
